We're Sidecar — two Atlanta retail veterans who got tired of watching local businesses get stuck with vending machines nobody actually manages. So we built something different.
Twenty years of retail led us here.
Sidecar launched in 2026, but the idea behind it took a lot longer to show up. Between us, founders Vala Renfroe and Brian Morris have spent more than 20 years combined in retail management — running store floors, leading teams, and handling the day-to-day problems that come with keeping a location stocked, staffed, and running smoothly. Along the way we noticed the same problem over and over in vending: machines that get installed and then basically disappear. Nobody answers when one breaks. Nobody adjusts the stock. The business hosting it ends up managing a vendor relationship they never wanted in the first place.
At the same time, we watched the whole category get better — cashless payments, smart inventory, machines that can actually tell you what's selling and when. The technology moved forward. The service around it didn't. That gap is what became Sidecar.
Riding along, not just showing up.
A sidecar isn't the main vehicle — it's the thing built to ride alongside you, going wherever you go without you having to think about it. That's the idea behind the name. We're not trying to be a vendor you deal with once a quarter. We're the partner riding along, handling the vending machine so it's never actually your problem.
Partnership over transactions.
We built Sidecar around one idea: partnership over transactions. That's part of why there's no cost and no work for the businesses that host our machines — but it's more than that. If a machine breaks, stock runs low, or something just feels off, you're not stuck navigating a call center. You've got a direct line to a partner who actually picks up and makes it right.
We're building this the way we'd want to be treated as a customer: answer the call, do what we said we'd do, and treat every location like it matters — because it does.
